Elland Brewery Facing Liquidation

Despite being crowned brewers of CAMRA’s 2023 Champion Beer of Britain, and earlier this week taking second place at CAMRA’s Great British Beer Festival Winter 2024 with their 1872 Porter, Elland Brewery are facing liquidation with a virtual meeting of creditors taking place on February 16th.

The brewery was founded as Eastwood and Sanders Fine Ales in 2002, after the merging of The West Yorkshire Brewery and The Barge and Barrel Brewing Company. It was renamed Elland Brewery in 2006.

Northern Monk to host International Women’s Day Brewing Careers Advice Event

This International Women’s Day (8th March, 4pm – 7pm), a team of Northern Monk staff are hosting an evening of career advice. They’ll be telling you all about the operation of running a brewery, from brewing to safety operations to designing our cans, and will highlight careers in beer that you might not have thought of.

As this is an IWD event it is open to anyone who identifies as a woman and all ages. A complimentary can of their IWD beer will be available for anyone over the age of 18, with a soft drink alternative for those under 18.

This event is free to attend but tickets are required and are available here.

New Release from Brew York

New from Brew York this week is Peanut Butter Tonkoko, a 4.3% peanut butter, coconut, tonka, vanilla and cacao milk stout. Their iconic Tonkoko cows are back and infused with the distinct flavour of peanut butter! With a rich malt base and a soft vanilla sweetness, Peanut Butter Tonkoko delivers the classic flavours of their OG milk stout with the addition of roasted peanuts.

Horsforth Brewery Stretches Crowdfunding Target

The machine that Horsforth Brewery are looking to invest in will greatly extend their canning capabilities – enabling them to can much much faster and at a reliable level which opens up a number of opportunities for them that they’ve not previously been able to take advantage of. The original round of crowdfunding got off to an absolute flyer and so, to help buy some additional parts, they have stretched the original £15k target up to £25k. New Stout from Abbeydale Brewery

Irish Stout, from Abbeydale Brewery in Sheffield’s Salvation Series is their latest stout release. At 4.5% it’s the perfect balance of bitter and sweet, and features a smooth, roasted malt character and soft chocolate flavours, sitting alongside subtle hints of coffee and just a crumb or two of burnt toast. Sessionable and more-ish.

Meet Craven Brew Co’s Dave Sanders

Head on down to the Tapping Foot in Silsden on the evening of Tuesday 27th February from 7.30pm to meet the award-winning brewer Dave Sanders, and have all your beer and brewing questions answered.

Dave has more than 25 years experience in the brewing industry, with stints at Saltaire, Elland and Kirkstall breweries amongst others.

Not only will Beer Club members receive a discount on beer, but they will also receive a free Craven Brew Co gift!
