Two New Beers from Brew York
Brew York have announced the release of two new beers, Orange Infusion and Strawberry Sencha. Orange Infusion is a 4.8% orange tea pale and is a collaboration with Shiny Brewery. Using “an exquisitely elegant tea blend” from Hebden Tea, they describe it as “a refreshing pale which imparts fruity aromas of orange and apple as well as notes of vanilla and blossom”. Strawberry Sencha is a 4.8% strawberry and lychee green tea pale and is another collaboration with Shiny Brewery. Using another blend from Hebden Tea, they say they have created “a refreshing pale that imparts sweet lychee, strawberries, and soft, floral notes”.
Kirkstall Brewery’s Founder Steve Holt Purchases North Brewing
North will continue to operate as an independent brewery, run by the existing management team. The move will ensure North’s future, including its Springwell Brewery and Taproom, as well as the North Taproom sites in Leeds and Manchester. The transaction does not include the North Taproom in Birmingham, which will now close. The founders of North, John Gyngell and Christian Townley, have known and worked closely with Holt since the earliest days of the North brand, since the opening of North Bar in 1997. As their respective businesses have expanded, the Leeds beer scene has grown with them. Steve Holt of Kirkstall Brewery said ‘We’ve been friends and industry colleagues for almost 30 years. North is an iconic beer brand that had to continue. Together, we’ll make sure that North will continue to make some of the best beer in the country.’ The purchase of the North will see Gyngell and Townley remain at the helm of the business, and secures the jobs of 78 North employees.

New Cans and Merch from Amity
Amity’s award-winning juicy pale ale, Waterpistol, is at its very freshest right now having been canned this week, with the zingy lime zest aromas and flavours just bursting from their newly redesigned can. Waterpistol started life as a one-off special, it was a beer they never really planned to brew again. Fast forward over three years, it’s now their most loved beer and they brew it more than any other beer in the range. Last year they brought Waterpistol into their core line-up and their new can design brings it in line with their other core beers Sunnybank and Festoon. To go with the new can design are new Waterpistol tees, available in a variety of sizes.
